Frequently asked questions

Answers on access, data coverage, storage, limitations and planned features.

How do I try the API?

Start without a key: /health, /status and /metadata/* are open, so you can verify connectivity, data freshness and coverage straight away. When you need real responses, email mail@firmainfo.se with what you are building, which datasets you need and roughly what volume. During the beta we create the key by hand and normally reply within one working day. Trial is free and requires no card.

When does new data appear?

Two rhythms decide how fresh a value is: how often we check the source, and how often the source publishes. The slower one wins. Polling us more often than the source publishes therefore gains you nothing.

DatasetWe checkThe source publishes
Insider tradingEvery minuteContinuously
Short positionsEvery three minutesSeveral times a day
Newly registered limited companiesHourlyContinuously
Annual reportsHourlyContinuously, in batches
The rest of the company registryHourlyWeekly, Mondays
Bankruptcies and liquidationsHourlyWeekly, Mondays
TrademarksOn importNo promised cadence

In practice: an insider transaction reaches us within a minute, a newly registered limited company within a day.

/status shows the last successful run and the freshest record per dataset, without a key. Prefer it over this list whenever something matters.

How often are trademarks updated?

Trademark data from the Swedish Patent and Registration Office is imported in batches and deliberately carries no promised update frequency. The dataset appears in /status with update_mode: on_import and a timestamp for the latest import, so you can always see how fresh it is before building anything time-critical on it. If your product needs monitoring with a guaranteed latency, get in touch and we will plan it with you.

May I store the data in my product?

You may store data within the scope of the agreed use case. Redistribution, full copies of the registry and resale require a separate licence and are not unlocked automatically by a larger quota. See Security and data protection for how we handle keys, logs and personal data.

Can the API replace a credit or AML service?

No. The API contains no credit ratings, payment defaults, official beneficial owners, signatory rights, PEP data or sanctions lists. Reported group relationships are not a shareholder register.

Is CompanyScore a credit rating?

No. CompanyScore is an internal analytical experiment and is not part of the API. It is not calibrated as a credit rating and must never be used or presented as one.

Can I search by company name?

Not yet in v1. The company screener filters on industry, location, size and financial values among other things. Specific companies are retrieved by registration number or public token.

Can I do a reverse person search?

No. Person records are not matched to identities reliably enough to support a trustworthy search across all company engagements. The feature will not be offered until data quality can carry that kind of use.

How do I build monitoring without webhooks?

The change feed is the v1 answer for monitoring. Poll with a date or a page cursor and save your position after each successful run.

What happens when a plan hits its limit?

The API responds with 429 and an explicit Retry-After. Overage is never billed silently in the background. Contact us if you need a permanently higher limit.

What should I send when a piece of data looks wrong?

Send the registration number, the field name, the expected value and the source. Include the request_id from the response too, so we can find the exact call faster.
